Meet the Bloggers

Hi, my name is Allison.  I am in the Literacy Specialist Graduate program at SUNY Potsdam.  My current certifications are in Childhood and Special Education, which I completed at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY.  I also minored in Literacy and worked at Borders Books for almost 6 years.  I have countless favorite books, especially picture books!  My favorite time to read is when I am camping in a tent because I find that environment so peaceful and there is nothing to distract me!  I hope you enjoy our blog.

Hi, my name is Stephanie! I am currently working for my Master's through the Literacy Specialist program at SUNY Potsdam. I earned my New York State teacher certification in Childhood Education in May 2010, also at SUNY Potsdam. I decided to stay around Potsdam for another year to finish up my schooling in the beautiful yet cold Northern New York. I am working as a Graduate Assistant at the Sheard Literacy Center at Potsdam in which I am coordinator for an after school mentoring program. I truly enjoy reading all types of books especially children literature but wish I had more time to do it! I hope you enjoy exploring our blog and you find it helpful to learn about the various types of books that are available!

Hi, my name is Candace. I'm currently in the Literacy Specialist program at SUNY Potsdam and substituting in the area. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from SUNY Potsdam in May 2010. I love reading so I can keep absorbing and acknowledging good books, for my own enjoyment and possible teaching ideas. My favorite author and illustrator is Maurice Sendak. I love to read out loud to young children. The expression on their face and the way they seem to just soak up the story is what makes reading so exciting for me. I'm new to blogging and looking forward to seeing everyone's interest in our blog!
